F01 Negotiations Day 1

Well, my move to the English Channel, which is very rare for me as France, caused a bit of consternation with England as you might expect. I tried to reach out early in the morning and take his temperature.

My concern is that I’ve already lost trust with England. Actually, I suspect England did not like me from the get-go and tried to plot with Germany, but England’s only real suggestion was to give up position. I tried to suggest getting him into Belgium; no dice. Instead, he said he would rather give Germany three builds.

Germany, meanwhile, begins to help solve the puzzle of EGI communications before the Spring moves.

The important thing here was that Germany was opening up to me a bit. I’m not sure if he was telling the truth or not about Italy, who is such a wild card player, but I enjoyed that he began a dialogue with me. We corresponded all day about options, which was a significant departure from our prior conversations, and one that helped me feel better about my position. I pressed forward with the England attack option.

Germany responds somewhere between lukewarm and warm.

Meanwhile, Italy responds with a long, rambling three was FIR alliance. The only problem is that he wants me to work with England and attack Germany, which at this point, I cannot do. The way I feel it is by telling him that England is a problem for me right now.

His press was so long that I did not post it all. Here was my response.

Russia and I write separately about Italy, and I work on him to get Italy out of Piedmont. Russia and I seem to get along pretty well.

I then reach out to England to try and make it look like I may reluctantly leave Eng, and try to negotiate terms. No response for hours, and then it seemed like he may bite.

I have no intention of negotiating my builds, but if I can get England to think I’m moving away, then he may bite on a German offer of support into Belgium. Let’s see how that plays out tomorrow with plenty of remaining time to negotiate. I end the night with some clips for the players from Goodfellas.
