Umbletheheep resurfaced on the online scene in late 2018. If you ask him, he quickly become the star attraction on the Diplomacy Nexus. Others would say he was merely tolerated. He was a mysterious figure with a cryptic name who racked up solo after solo on his way to the finals. People wondered what cave he slithered out of as he carved up win after win.
He actually discovered Diplomacy searching for a game with more depth than Risk. He played his first match on the DPjudge back in 2008 and finished with an Austrian solo. This led him to believe the game was easy, and world domination was around the corner. Since that time, he has become well-known for getting 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths in the tournaments he plays in. Some would describe him as the Wormtongue of Diplomacy…he does hope someday to get that elusive crown. (NOTE: Subsequent to this, Umble won WeaselMoot XV, earning the appropriately named title Alpha Weasel).
He is more well-known as the publisher of The Briefing which is a weekly email that keeps everyone updated on what’s happening in the Diplomacy community. He has had a hand in starting f2f clubs and enjoys playing Diplomacy in any format. Once feared, revered, and hated, umble is now liked and appreciated as a hobby ambassador. This dismays him, and he hopes that people will realize the fearsome wolf that lurks within rather than the cuddly sheep he appears to be.
