S01 Negotiations Day 3
So, I thought I had pretty good relationships with Germany and England. It was a Monday for me, which are always horrible at work. I had a lot to do, and don’t have large amounts of time to devote to my Diplomacy side piece. I assumed others were likewise busy, but I must admit, when no one sends press to you all day, you become suspicious that strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
I finally try and crack the silence. I reach out to England and we exchange the following:
After that, nothing but crickets. I intentionally don’t reach out to Germany, because I view him as a player who is highly confident and would not do well with people pinging him with paranoid questions. So, I decide to wait it out. Then, all of a sudden, Italy sends a press to everyone:
Three things: First, Italy is Jeff. OK, that was easy. Second, he’s giving his moves? Third, he’s moving to Pie? What, what about the Give Pie(ce) A Chance Alliance? Broken on the first go around? My head is thinking about all this, and then I get a second press from Italy:
So, I give Jeff my phone number, and he calls me with 45 minutes to go before orders process. He tells me that he’s had lots of press with Germany and England, and that England was rallying Germany and Italy against me. He said Germany was moving to Bur, and he thought England would move to the Channel. He said he was forced to agreeing to move to Pie. It was all sort of vague, but I believed him.
I had already told Germany I was anti-England, and for some reason, I just had a good vibe with Jeff, even though he sounded like a lunatic :). He told me that if I did not bounce him in Pie that he would not move to Mar. So, I decided to force Burgundy, which I was inclined to do anyway. I then decided to move to the Channel. If we bounced, I would have outed the rat. If I didn’t bounce and took it, then I could blame Italy’s press for spooking me.
